Kitchen Remodel, Half Bath, Sunroom Addition and Laundry Room

This remodeling project started with the enclosing of a seasonal porch. The owners, who were avid bird watchers, where in love with the idea of creating a space with a panoramic view of the woods surrounding their house.

The existing porch having been built on two different unleveled slabs, with an access door leading to the garage, was updated with leveled insulated radiant-heat floors featuring two walls that are made entirely of insulated glass casement windows framing an access door to the backyard. This design upgraded what was only a seasonal space into a year-round, usable sunroom with fantastic views of the surrounding nature.

The original ceiling of cedar plank & post was preserved and incorporated into the new design. Connecting the remodeled ‘porch” to a newly remodeled kitchen is a wide opening with slow sloping oak floor for easy access.

The ceiling that connected the remodeled hallway leading to the mud/ laundry room from the new kitchen was brought to one level to match that of the kitchen. In addition, an existing half bath in the hallway was redesign to increase it’s usable space and trimmed with bead board to compliment a pedestal sink. A deep storage recess cabinet installed over the toilet provided much needed storage in an otherwise cozy space.

The kitchen was designed with shaker style doors made of natural birch featuring self closing drawers and door systems. The kitchen counter tops are made of natural granite featuring leader finish and a heated island counter top. The heated island counter top with programmable thermostat creates a luxurious and cozy sitting area for meals.

The trim of this home was also upgraded and replaced with classic craftsman style doors and casings. The owner being a great craftsman and skilled furniture maker himself, created the large mahogany living room bay window in his own shop, which we install with insulated glass panels while preserving the existing copper roof from the original window.
